Dhanush, Akshay Kumar, and Sara Ali Khan star in Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re, which premiered today on Disney+ Hotstar. So, is it worth your time to watch the movie?
Aanand L Rai is well-known for his work as a narrator of romantic comedies and dramas. However, his most recent film, Zero, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, and Katrina Kaif, was a flop. After a three-year hiatus, the filmmaker returns with Atrangi Re, a film starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush. The film was meant to be released in theatres, but it will now be available to stream on Disney+Hotstar starting today. So, is Atrangi Re an atrangi film, as its title suggests, or is it the polar opposite?
Rinku (Sara), Vishu (Dhanush), and Sajjad are the protagonists of Atrangi Re (Akshay). Rinku remains in Siwan and is smitten by Sajjad. She has attempted to run away with him many times but all in vain as she was always caught by her family. Her family makes the decision to marry her to a complete stranger who lives in another state. Vishu is kidnapped, and the jabariya shaadi takes place. Vishu and Rinku, on the other hand, are dissatisfied with the wedding because the former has a girlfriend and the latter adores Sajjad. Once Sajjad returns to India from Africa, they decide to part ways once they get to Delhi. Rinku and Vishu, on the other hand, have something else in store for them.
Let us inform you that Atrangi Re is a love story set against the backdrop of a mental disease without offering any spoilers. Filmmakers have already tackled this medical ailment in a number of films. Himanshu Sharma’s story, however, retains its originality. He is an expert at connecting the dots between the audience and the characters he creates. We identify with Rinku and Vishu right away in Atrangi Re, and Aanand L Rai’s narration adds to the visual appeal of the picture. The director is known for crafting bright, lively films, and Atrangi Re is no exception.
The film’s best feature is the soundtrack, which was composed by AR Rahman. All of the songs in the movie are great. Even the background music he composed is fantastic. His hypnotic soundtrack propels the film forward in a smooth manner.
