Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas was recently contacted by filmmaker Karan Johar, who liked his portrayal in the superhero flick Minnal Murali. Tovino shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with Karan on Instagram. “Hello, Tovino!” Last night, I finally had the chance to see Minnal Murali, and I had a blast! So well-made, with a high level of amusement throughout! Was a clutter-busting superhero movie! And, of course, you were and continue to be amazing! Congratulations! What a delight!” In his message, Karan wrote: “Sir, thank you so much!” The actor said, “It means a lot to us.”

Tovino wrote in an Instagram post, “Messages like these! It’s not always that the whole world starts appreciating your work from every nook and corner. And especially when an ace filmmaker like @karanjohar who has given numerous all-time entertainers for us, appreciates our work, it sure feels surreal. Thank you sir for letting us know how much you loved the movie! Glad to know you enjoyed it thoroughly.”

“It’s always lovely to be acknowledged and Minnal Murali illustrates that good cinema transcends geographies and that compelling stories are not merely viewed but adored by all.”Tovino said in a statement. He further added, “It’s still surreal to play Minnal Murali and have our film reach so many people all around the world. This is significant not only for our film, but also for the industries, creators, and talent who work in the film industry.”  Minnal Murali, directed by Basil Joseph, stars Tovino as Jaison, a tailor who gains superpowers after being struck by lightning and becomes the titular superhero. He now has to defend his town against the villainous enemy. Last month, Netflix released Guru Somasundaram, Harisree Ashokan, and Aju Varghese’s films, which received great reviews.
