Pongal is a four-day harvest festival in the Indian state of Kerala. Today is the first day of celebrations, when everyone in the family gets together to create Pongal, a traditional rice meal. The rituals include oil bathing, decorating cows, eating sugarcanes, and much more, in addition to decorating homes with colour rangoli. Women wear silk sarees and men wear white shirts and mundu to seem majestic on this important day. Silk sarees have a unique position in every Indian event, and even if your celebrations are little, draping the lovely piece of silk will bring the grand festive sentiments into your home.
