Salman Khan’s plea rejected for interim order in defamation suit against Panvel neighbour

Salman Khan, who sued a neighbor for alleged defamation, was denied an interim restraining order by the Mumbai City Civil Court on Friday. The actor has filed a court complaint stating that Ketan Kakkad, who owns a plot of property near his farmhouse in Panvel, Mumbai, defamed him during a YouTube interview.

Judge Anil H Laddhad ordered Kakkad to file his reply and introduce a specific hearing date for January 21.

DSK Legal, which represents Khan, requested an interim injunction (order) prohibiting Kakkad from making any additional defamatory statements while the case is pending.

However, Kakkad’s lawyers, Abha Singh and Aditya Pratap opposed the prayer, claiming that they only received the case papers on Thursday evening and were unable to read the full action.

Advocate Singh further stated that there was no urgency and that if Khan had taken a time of the month to file the complaint, Kakkad should also be given time to respond.

Khan’s suit claims that Kakkad made defamatory remarks about the actor while speaking to a YouTuber. Two other people who took part in the show were also included as responses.

Khan has also named YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Google as defendants in the lawsuit, requesting that they block and remove the ‘defamatory content’ from their platforms.
