The roots of animosity between Salman Khan and Arijit Singh were established in 2014, when the two got into a nasty brawl at an award ceremony.
Arijit Singh is without a doubt one of Bollywood’s most sought-after playback singers. He has a long list of popular songs to his credit. Every music director’s wish list includes him. His tragic squabble with Salman Khan, on the other hand, brought him to his knees and cost him dearly.

When the two had an angry exchange of words at an award reception in 2014, the seeds of animosity between Salman and Arijit were sown. Arijit wore casuals and chappals to the concert because he was busy editing a song for music composer Pritam Chakbraborty. When Arijit walked onto the platform, his casual outfit didn’t escape Salman’s notice, who exclaimed, “Tu hai winner (You’re the Winner)?” He was also unsure if Arijit had dozed off. Salman’s statements irritated Arijit, who responded, “Aap logon ne sula diya (You all put me to sleep).”
Arijit may have taken the incident with a grain of salt, but his caustic words continued to irritate Salman. Salman remarked as Arijit moved down the stage, “Take a look at this individual. He’s taken his reward and is currently strolling away in chappals.” The artist expressed regret for his behaviour, which enraged Salman. He sent Salman a text message apologising as soon as he returned to Kolkata. Salman, on the other hand, was not in the mood to forgive him. He reminded him that he should have dressed more formally to honour the awards. For the time being, Salman’s response made Arijit happy, but the singer failed to realise that it was the calm before the storm.
Arijit’s song, which he had recorded with Meet Brothers in Kick, was rejected by Salman. Arijit tried but failed to apologies to Salman. Salman denied Arijit another song in Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015, followed by the removal of his version of Jag Ghoomeya from Sultan, which was later sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
