Lata Mangeshkar, who has been in the hospital for about a week, will be kept under closer surveillance because of her infection with Covid-19 and pneumonia. While her admirers prayed for her health, Asha Bhosle informed that Pujas have been held at the veteran singer’s residence.
The musician, who lives in South Mumbai, has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in the city. “Unke ghar par (Prabhukunj, Peddar Road) Shiv Bhagawan ke rudras bithaye hain aur puja-paath kar rahe hain (Lord Shiva Rudras have been installed at her residence and pujas are being organised for her recovery),” Asha told ETimes. Rajesh Tope, the Maharashtra Health Minister, provided an update on the singer’s health on Sunday. In an interview with PTI, he stated, “The health of Lata Mangeshkar is improving. I contacted officials at the Breach Candy Hospital, who gave me an update on her condition. I advised them that the hospital’s spokesperson should provide updates on the singer’s status, as the public is interested in learning about her health.”
The 92-year-old singer’s doctor had earlier stated that she will be monitored in the intensive care unit. Dr. Pratit Samdani, an assistant professor at the Breach Candy Hospital, informed PTI on Sunday that Lata Mangeshkar is still in the ICU and being treated. Lata Di’s sister, Asha Bhosle, a famed singer, delivered an update on Lata Mangeshkar’s condition on Thursday. The singer sought to meet Lata Mangeshkar at the hospital, but was turned down due to a Covid-19 case. “They’re not letting anyone in,” she explained. I went once but was not permitted to enter the compound.” Asha Bhosle also confessed that she isn’t feeling well and is suffering from a cough and cold. However, she assuaged our fears by stating that she has not contracted COVID. “But Didi is improving; she is better than before,” she remarked of Lata Mangeshkar’s health.
