Actor Pankaj Tripathi recognizes the power of his public persona and intends to put it to good use for a worthy cause. During a recent family vacation to his hometown of Bihar, the actor kept a promise he made to khadi artisans in a Gopalganj village during his previous visit.

The 45-year-old spent time with the artists, listened to their stories and bought their items to show her support for their efforts. “I was told that these artisans in Gopalganj, Bihar, were doing a good job producing khadi items. “The goal behind doing this was to create interest in local products,” says Tripathi, adding, “The site is nice and only 10 – 15 kilometers distant from my village.” I bought a handcrafted rug, and it turned out to be fantastic. It was invaluable.”
“It will provide jobs for a big number of people, improving the economic conditions of our country,” he adds. Khadi is a traditional Indian fabric. The actor concludes, “It is a society that has produced us actors, and all we can give them in exchange is entertainment.”
