On Instagram, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, known for her recent appearance in the Telugu mythological drama Shaakuntalam, shared a new photo on Tuesday and referenced a line from the Bhagavad Gita. The line she cited can be translated to mean that one has the right to perform their prescribed duty, but not to expect the fruits of their actions.
Samantha’s latest film, Shaakuntalam, has been a failure at the box office. However, her recent social media post featuring a Sanskrit verse from the Gita suggests that she may not be overly concerned about its performance. The Gita verse translates to “You have the right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction,” was accompanied by a new Insta post shared by Samantha.
Samantha’s latest project ‘Shaakuntalam’, directed by Gunasekhar, has turned out to be a major disappointment for her. Despite being dubbed and released in Tamil and Hindi, the film failed to gross even ₹10 crore globally during its opening weekend.
As per movie trade analyst, the movie starring Samantha had a disastrous performance at the box office, with the lowest opening ever seen for any of her films. Analysts further added that Samantha’s movies have historically managed to achieve good to decent openings, and even her previous release ‘Yashoda’, despite receiving mixed reviews, had a strong opening at the box office.
The protagonist of Shaakuntalam is portrayed by Samantha, who takes on the role of Shakuntala, the offspring of Menaka and Viswamithra. This marks Samantha’s first partnership with director Gunasekhar. Additionally, Sachin Khedekar, Dev Mohan, and Gautami are among the notable cast members. The upcoming Telugu romantic drama film ‘Kushi’ co-starring Vijay Deverakonda features Samantha in her next project. Additionally, she is also set to star alongside Varun Dhawan in the Indian adaptation of ‘Citadel’.
