Recently web series have gained a lot of attention as well as popularity among the viewers especially the ‘women-centric’ web series. It has been observed that these series showcase the societal concerns that women encounter in their daily life. There are many variations in the role of women in the web series, as some of the characters motivate us, while on the other hand, some of the roles feature women in action too. Let’s take a move towards the much anticipated women-centric web series to be released in the upcoming months.

  1. Aarya Season-3

Bollywood Actress Sushmita Sen is all set to be back in her action mode in the third season of the popular web series Aarya. Talking about her role in the web series, she portrayed the character of Aarya Sareen who is a tough woman, who goes beyond the boundaries to protect her family from the world of crime. Aarya (Sushmita Sen’s character) is always ready to take bold steps or cross any boundaries to protect her family. The official release date of the web series is still awaited. It will stream on the OTT platform Disney + Hotstar. 

  1. Heera Mandi

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series Heera Mandi stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Sehgal, Manisha Koirala, and Sanjeeda Sheikh in the lead roles. The story of this series is set in the pre-independence period, and it will showcase the house of courtesans in the 1940s era. The cultural reality of Heera mandi, a dazzling district through the stories of courtesans with their patrons. This web series will stream on the OTT platform Netflix. 

  1. Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo

The upcoming women-centric action thriller series stars Dimple Kapadia, Angira Dhar, Radhika Madan, and Isha Talwar in the lead roles. Dimple Kapadia is back with a powerful role in her debut web series, she will be portraying the character of mother-in-law in the series. The series is billed as a new spin on the says-bahu drama sub-genre that explores the power dynamics between the ruthless, tough mother-in-law as well as the meeker daughter-in-law. This series is all set to stream on OTT platform Disney + Hotstar from May 5th.

  1. The Good Wife 

This is a story of a housewife who is forced to take proper responsibility for her family after her husband is imprisoned over corruption as well as a sex scandal. Starring the evergreen Bollywood actress Kajol in the lead role. Basically, The Good Wife is an Indian adaptation of the American courtroom drama of the same name starring Julianna Margulies. This show has a total of 7 seasons and it concluded in 2016. Kajol will be portraying the character of a housewife who goes back to working as a lawyer after her husband’s imprisonment. The series is all set to stream on OTT platforms Disney + Hotstar. 

  1. Dahaad 

Dahaad is a Hindi-language crime, mystery, and thriller web series created by Reema Kaagti, and Zoya Akhtar. Starring the versatile actors Vijay Verma and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles, this series is an 8-part crime drama that follows Anjali Bhaati, a Sub-inspector, and her colleagues in the police station of a small town. The story begins when a series of women are mysteriously found dead in the public bathrooms. The sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati is dedicated to the investigation of this mystery. The series is all set to release on May 12.
