The creators of the reality show Lock Upp has revealed the name of their second contestant and it is none other than the controversial Stand-up comedian, Munawar Faruqui. He is one of the 16 contestants of the reality show, titled ‘Lock Upp’. The show will be hosted by the Manikarnika actress- Kangana Ranaut. Lock Upp is being produced by Ekta Kapoor and the promo of the show disclosed that Munawar is going to be one of the contestants.
Talking to the media, Munawar said, “I thought it’s going to be a tough and challenging journey for me, I am glad that this show also gives me an opportunity to be myself in a real setup. I am glad to be associated with ALTBalaji, MX Player for offering me such a unique reality show.”
Munawar’s revelation came after actress Nisha Rawal was announced as the first contestant.

Talking about the show, Stand up Comedian added that “This show has been in the center of controversies surrounding his jokes on Hindu worship idols. This show has come up with a very different concept and it’s one of a kind. I believe it has the potential to change the dynamics of the content-viewing experience in the Indian OTT industry.”

Munawar Faruqui is a stand-up comedian who came into the limelight after his controversial jokes. Faruqui, the comedian from Gujarat was arrested by police on the complaint filed by the son of a BJP MP, for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments on his comedy show. He was arrested in 2021 and several of his shows were banned after he faced criticism and protest for his jokes.
As far as Nisha is concerned, she made headlines last year for her bitter clashes with ex-husband Karan Mehra. The upcoming show will feature Kangana Ranaut as host of the show and will mark her OTT debut.
Talking to the media Kangana Ranaut said, “I am thrilled and excited for foraying into OTT with such a unique and brilliant concept. I am sure this show will give me a great opportunity to get in touch with my fans and entertain them as the host of the Lock Upp. The show will stream on MX Player and ALT Balaji from the 27th of February.
