Funkaar, a biopic of Kapil Sharma, is in the works. Filmmaker Mrighdeep Singh Lamba of Fukrey fame will direct the unseen narrative of the actor-comedian. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, producer Mahaveer Jain made the announcement on Friday, January 14.

Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma’s Netflix comedy special Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet will premiere soon. On January 28, the show will premiere. Kapil Sharma’s comedy show is broadcasting on Sony TV. This will be the comedian’s debut appearance on the streaming service.

Taran Adarsh who is a trade analyst shared the announcement on his official Twitter handle. He wrote, “BIOPIC ON KAPIL SHARMA: ‘FUKREY’ DIRECTOR TO DIRECT… A biopic on #KapilSharma has been announced… Titled #Funkaar… #MrighdeepSinghLamba – director of #Fukrey franchise – will direct… Produced by #MahaveerJain [#LycaProductions]… #Subaskaran presents. #KapilSharmaBiopic (sic).”
“Archana ji has a role in making me a star, because she used to appreciate me so much in my days of competitions, and that’s what an artist needs, it increases morale. There is no formality between us, we are friends, and that is how we can pull each other’s legs on stage,” said Kapil.
Commenting on the same, a well-placed industry source reveals, “Talks to develop a biopic on Kapil Sharma have been doing the rounds for a while. Now finally it has been confirmed. Fukrey director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba will be directing the venture that has been titled Funkaar. As for bankrolling the venture, Mahaveer Jain has come on board as the producer while Subaskaran of Lyca Productions will present the venture.” Though the Kapil Sharma biopic, Funkaar has been confirmed, details of what aspects of the comedian’s life will be included are being kept under wraps. “Details of how much of Kapil’s story will be included are being guarded, since revealing them will give out the plot”, comments the source.
Meanwhile, Lyca Productions and Producer Mahaveer Jain have worked with many prominent artists such as Akshay Kumar on Ram Setu, Sanjay Leela Bansali on Man Bairagi, Anand L Rai on Jahnvi Kapoor’s Good Luck Jerry, and many others.
Kapil Sharma is gearing up to delight his fans with the premiere of his first special comedy show, ‘I’m Not Done Yet,’ which will be available on Netflix. The trailer for the film has already been released, and it has received a lot of positive feedback from spectators.
