Vaani Kapoor, who co-stars with Ayushmann Khurrana in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, is glad for the great response and acceptance she received from the public.
Vaani Kapoor is relieved that her most risky film to date, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, has received positive feedback from all sectors. And the reason her role in the film was kept under wraps until its release is now out in the open: her character, Maanvi, is a trans woman.
“It makes me pleased that everyone likes it. Apart from the industry professionals, I am pleased that the viewers appreciate it and that it is being regarded in the proper light. “I hope more people see it and give it a chance,” Kapoor says. However, the 33-year-old understands that not every picture will be a box office hit right now. The growing threat of the Omicron variety in the midst of the epidemic is likely to make many reconsider. “Having experienced a pandemic, I understand the logistics, people’s fear, and even the financial part of it.” Many people have been hampered by financial constraints; it is not easy, and amusement is no longer at the top of their priority lists. However, I am confident that if they give our picture a chance, they will not be disappointed. It is, without a doubt, a must-see film in my opinion. This is not what I’m saying.
She tells us that the biggest compliment she’s received so far has come from the trans community. Those who saw it said they could identify with Kapoor’s portrayal. “Saisha Shinde (a transgender designer) went through a comparable, if not more difficult, journey than my character. She liked it so much that she posted it on social media to show that I got the nuances perfect. She came up to me and said she actually resonated with me, which I take as a compliment. Then I met Simran Sahni, who was the one who came up with the film’s concept in Gattu (director Abhishek Kapoor). She is the mother of two transgender children. They claimed they were moved to tears and felt a sense of belonging, as well as pride in the fact that I directed the video. That was the most flattering compliment. We didn’t want it to be cartoonish. If we weren’t quite there, and there was no connection with who we were,I tried to portray, and then I failed,” the actor concludes.
