The Gurjar group stated that Prithviraj was a Gurjar and not a Rajput, as reported by The Times Of India. As a result, they suggested that he be represented as a Gurjar in the film.
On the other hand, the Rajputs have refuted the community’s claims. According to Shri Karni Sena national spokesperson Vijendra Singh Shaktawat, Gurjars originated in Gujarat. He went on to say that Gurjars were once known as ‘gauchar,’ then ‘Gujjar,’ and ultimately ‘Gurjar,’ and that the name is derived from location rather than caste.’ Gurjar community members mounted a demonstration in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district a few days ago, demanding that Prithviraj Chauhan be presented as a Gurjar ruler, according to Asianet newsable. They also stated that the film would not be released in theatres unless that alteration is made.
According to Himmat Singh, the Gurjar community’s head, the film is based on Chand Bardai’s ‘Prithviraj Raso,’ as seen in the trailer. He stated that the 16th-century epic ‘Prithviraj Rao’ was composed in the Pringal language, which is a mix of Bajra and Rajasthani languages. The Gurjars have threatened to put a stop to movie presentations.
