In the face of increased incidences of COVID-19’s Omicron form in India, the makers of the Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur movie Jersey have chosen to postpone the film’s release. On December 31, the film was slated to be released in theatres.”We have chosen to postpone the theatrical premiere of our film Jersey due to the current circumstances and new Covid standards.” We have gotten a tremendous amount of love from you all thus far, and we want to express our gratitude to you all. Until then, everyone, please keep safe and healthy, and best wishes for the next year! “The Jersey of the Team.”
Jersey is a remake of actor Nani’s Telugu film of the same name, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The original Telugu version was also directed by Gowtam. In the film, Shahid plays a cricketer who makes a comeback after years away from the game. The film was scheduled to be released on December 31, 2021. The new date, on the other hand, has yet to be determined. The decision comes after the Delhi government ordered cinemas, spas, and gyms to close on Tuesday in order to limit the number of COVID-19 cases. Furthermore, Maharashtra’s movie theatres are at 50 percent capacity, affecting box office receipts. According to industry analysts, the introduction of a night curfew in many sections of the country may have influenced this decision, as it would prevent the picture from showing at night in such areas.
Jersey’s producers are also rumoured to be considering a straight OTT release if the situation does not improve quickly. However, trade analysts such as Taran Adarsh have refuted the rumours, stating that the filmmakers have stated that the film will be released theatrically.
