Warner Bros. has published the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the third instalment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. Mads Mikklesen, who takes over for Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald in the film, is featured in the new video. The new teaser opens with images of Hogwarts and an aged Albus Dumbledore, who was played by Michael Gambon in the first Harry Potter films. It cuts to a scene with Jude Law as a younger Dumbledore. It then introduces his younger brother, a younger Aberforth, at his Hog’s Head Inn, who does not give the film’s protagonist, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), a warm welcome.
Dumbledore suspects a terrible plot is afoot, and Mads’ Grindelwald is seen using his Elder Wand to retrieve a man’s memories. Newt forms his own posse in the hopes of “taking down the most dangerous wizard in over a century.” Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), his muggle friend, receives his own wand. In April 2022, the film will be released. Johnny Depp will not reprise his role as Grindelwald, which he last played in 2018’s The Crimes of Grindelwald. In November 2020, he left the post because of legal issues regarding his ex-wife Amber Heard’s assault allegations, which he has rejected.
Mads Mikkelsen, who has appeared in films such as Hannibal, Rogue One, and Casino Royale, was later cast to take Johnny’s place. The upcoming film will focus on the period of Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s lives during which the dark wizard gained notoriety. David Yates, who directed the first two films in the blockbuster trilogy, directed Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The Fantastic Beasts franchise was originally planned as a trilogy, but it was eventually changed to a five-film series. On April 15, 2022, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be released in theatres.
